Leona Louise Lewis was born on 3 April 1985 in London. She's a singer and a song writer. She became famous after her victory at the 3rd series of "X-Factor" talent show. Her father's an Afro-Caribbean and her mother is of Aglo-Welsh descent. She is the middle child of three. She attended to Ambler Primary School in Finsbury Park. At the age of 5 her parents sent her to the Sylvia Young Theatre School. Leona wrote her first song at the age of 12. At the age of 13 she won the "Lady D under-18 talent show" and in 2004 she won the "Yates's Wannabe Talent Contest" singing Mariah Carey's "Always be my baby". To pay to get into a recording studio, Lewis worked a number of jobs : as a waitress at Pizza Hut, as a receptionist for Metropolitan Mortgages in Median Road etc. She recorded a demo album of her own songs called "Twilight" though the album was never released. In 2006 she auditioned for the 3rd series of the talent show "X-Factor" singing "Over the rainbow". After making it through the final and after having so many fans all around United Kingdom, on 16 December 2006 she announced the winner of the talent show winning a 1 million pound recording contract. Leona covered Kelly Clarkson's first single "A moment like this" and already 1 million copies were pre-ordered by the stores! The song was available as a digital download from midnight of 17 December (though it was released officialy on 20 December) and it broke a world record after being downloaded 5.000 times in 30 minutes!!! On December 24 "A moment like this" having sold 571, 253 copies was crowned the 2006 UK Christmas number-one single beating Take That's "Patience". On April 2007 her debut album "Spirit" released.
The single "Bleeding Love" released on 22 October 2007 selling 66.000 copies on its first day of release.
"Spirit" is about to be released also in USA where Leona is one of the favorite artists....
